If the Amateur International Boxing Association has its way, all female boxers may be forced to wear skirts at the London Olympics this year, to make them look ‘more elegant’.

Women need to wear skirts to be able to tell the men from the women? 1. Why is that important? 2. Why should women have to make up for someone else’s lack of cognitive reasoning skills? 3. Of course skirts are mandated to marginalize women’s boxing – it makes it so much easier to call them “laydieeez”. Which seems to be the worst thing you can call male athletes, if media is to be believed.
Just my 2 cents.

Absolutely. It reinforces the idea that women in sports aren’t competing for the honour and glory of the sport itself, but for that all-important male gaze. “Catfight! Catfight! Woo!”
